fun finds

I typically don’t have the best luck at thrift stores.  Once in awhile I come back with an exciting find but 90% of the time I walk away empty handed.  Maybe it’s my lack of patience when sifting through stacks + stacks of old kitchen items, never expecting to find anything.

Yes, that is probably it.

Well today I gave myself a few extra minutes to search and ended up having a bit of luck.  Go figure!

And now I’d like to share what I found.

- an oblong platter, which I’ve been wanting to find

- square salad-sized plates [very heavy duty!], which I’ve also been on the hunt for

- a minty green muffin tin with some wear + tear, just for fun

- you see, I have this obsession with mugs…

- a vintage sifter, which was my most exciting find of the day

I plan to display this on a wall in our kitchen with a few other items.  I’ll reveal the wall when the project is complete!

With a grand total of……

And now I can’t get the stupid grin off my face for these super thrifty finds!  I love a good deal.

pssst!  Another new post on my photo blog today!

My cousin AJ is a SENIOR!  This was my first senior portrait session and my first time shooting a guy solo.  AJ was such a good sport and has a fantastic sense of humor which was a big help!

I love when you're able to score some cool things at Thrift Stores. I don't always have the most luck either but sometimes you can find some real gems. I found this mug that I LOVED but sadly, my old roommate hid it before I moved out of the house. When I stopped by to pick up some mail after moving, the guy who took over my room was drinking from my mug. It was sad but I let it be...

Ashley--> That is one of the most ridiculous roommate stories!! What the heck!
Is the oval platter bennington pottery? We had a set of pottery that looked just like it when I was a kid.

I LOVE going to thrift stores. I find some of the best kitchen-y things at Goodwill. And the books are incredible...49 cents for paperback and 99 cents for hardbacks. You can't beat that! Great finds...I love the platter!

Do you ever worry about gluten contamination with used kitchen stuff? Like the sifter? Or maybe the residue wouldn't bother you because you aren't that gluten sensitive?

Ashley--> Washing the items does the trick.

I never have enough patience to sift through anything! There are clothing stores I just don't go into because they just have way too much stuff to look at, I get overwhelmed too easy. Great finds though!!
That mug! And that muffin pan! I LOVE!

Great photos! :)
$11.49?!? Holy crap!
Wow! You really did get some fantastic finds :) I adore mugs too and the older they look, the better. It drives the hubs nuts though. Hes under the impression that you can actually have too many mugs! Pshhhh ...

Ashley--> Hahaha, luckily the husband has kept quiet about my plate/mug/bowl/jar hoarding. So far, anyway. :)

Ohhh very nice! Sometimes thrifts have the best "picturesque" items hidden somewhere underneath it all. I like that oblong tray because it'll be great for your food photography :)

Wow! You really found some fantastic things! I love the platter, and the sifter is awesome. I love thrift store shopping because you never know what you might find, and they bring in new things every day. It's great when you can walk out of the store with something you love without spending much money.
